Girard Myers, one of our founding board members, passed away on March 25, 2025. Girard was just a few months away from reaching his 100th birthday.
Girard was a founding member of Christmas in April/ Rebuilding Together, which began in 1990 in Charles County. He remained on the board until 2015, when he resigned to enjoy his retirement years. He was an amazing man who never stopped moving and doing. He was a force of nature to constantly be giving to his community.
Girard, Freddy Richardson and Sandie Branan ran the materials warehouse and kept the house captains supplied with the materials they needed. The warehouse would not have been possible had it not been for Girard and Freddy. He not only supported Christmas in April/Rebuilding Together, he supported members of his church and community if they were in need.
He was very handy at repairing old furnaces to keep them running. He was very busy with the food pantry that his church ran. Girard was a man of many talents and he will be missed every day. The Board of Directors of Christmas in April / Rebuilding Together want to thank Girard for all his hard work over the years. We will forever miss you!
